My laptop is really old, so I'm not surprised that the backlight died. I tried replacing the inverter and even the backlight lamp, but neither worked. All I really want to do is get onto the computer so I can pull photos off and transfer them to a new computer, but when I turn Windows on (using my TV as an S-video external monitor) I get a "RUNDLL Error: The specified module could not be found" and I can't click out of that error message. I'm able to move the mouse around, but can't click the Start button (or anywhere, for that matter.) Is there a way to recover from this?
What about safe mode? (Having problems getting into safemode since the external display doesn't show anything before the blue 'Welcome' screen....just before the RUNDLL Error message.)
