That is NOT a DVI-to-VGA adapter.
It is a miniDVI-to-composite adapter.
You should NOT use that adapter if you have a flat-panel high-definition TV set. Composite is total garbage and is THE absolute worst way to connect a computer to an HDTV.
If you have an HDTV, you should be using a miniDVI-to-DVI adapter and a DVI-to-HDMI cable (for miniDVI-equipped Macbooks), or a miniDisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter and standard HDMI cable (for miniDisplayPort-equipped Macbooks).
You neglected to mention which Macbook you have (miniDVI or miniDisplayPort). It would behoove you to check which Macbook you have, lest you buy the wrong adapter (miniDVI and MiniDisplayPort are TOTALLY different things and are NOT compatible).
