Why does my computer's color change to black/white after starting it?
I have recently bought a NVIDIA GEFORCE 9500 GT (ASUS GF 9500 GT V2 PCIE 1 GB DVI/VGA/HDMI) video card. Everything has worked fine before and after buying it and using it for about 3 weeks.
Now..when I start my computer, normal 32 bit colors are shown at first when the windows loads.. but at the time when my profile and vista logo comes up, the colors turn into black/white only. Then, when I click my profile and get to desktop, it shows the colors for a while, but turns into grayscale again, and wont change from whatever I've tried so far.
It would be nice if someone could help me with this; if it's about updating drivers, please give me the right link for updating it.
A similar problem happened to me once - spent hours trying to fix it. In the end, for me it turned out to be the monitor cable was junk. Sounds simple, but have you tried moving the cable/twisting it a bit?
It definitely sounds like there is a small electrical connection that is not working correctly - either the monitor, the cable, or the card. I doubt it is driver related since it is random.
Another way to check is to go back to your old card and see if the problem is still there.
