About
About Danny Dang:
This section feels like the awkward first moments of group gatherings when you’re forced to throw little tidbits of information out in the open in hopes that other people will like you and be friendly. So in light of that, here are two lies and a truth - I like long walks on the beach, moonlight dinners and deep thought-provoking conversations. I hope you can figure out which one it is.
Other than that, I actually am a young university student absorbing the world’s knowledge one page at a time. I’m currently attending the University of Waterloo majoring in Statistics and Wilfred Laurier University majoring in Business - Finance. Yes, I’m attending two universities simultaneously! Isn’t that cool?
There a few things I love - people, books, music and volleyball. People on the most part are the most fascinating part of my life, just dealing with people is why I wake up in the morning. It’s the only part of life that I have no control over and I find it’s the most challenging part of life. Books are great because they smell nice. Mmmm, old book smell. Music is super because without music, I’d probably be one of those weird introverted kids who would never deal with people - my first love. And volleyball, what can I say, it was the first sport I fell in love with, and it will never betray me.
For me, learning isn’t really about the how or the what, but more or less the why. When I learn I try to derive meaning out it and my writing style will reflect that. Most, if not all of my posts will be more abstract. They will be speaking to things like mental mindsets, personal attitudes and the reasoning behind many things my counterpart Josh will discuss. My personal theory is that you can teach a machine to run algorithms so why teach humans them? So in essence, to me, learning isn’t how or what, but why.
About Joshua Hwang:
Joshua is a handsome student of the Life Sciences at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario (Canada). He is one of the loudest introverts you will meet. Korean by heritage, Canadian by birth, he enjoys playing guitar and piano; the former played at an amateur level, the later at a slightly more than amateur level. Constantly engaged in the study of fine food and fine women, he finds time for self-education and development. Current interests include philosophy of mind and working out.
Joshua believes in goal-oriented living and purposed actions; that is, understanding why one is taking actions before or while one is undertaking them. Education is his number one priority, yet this does not mean he studies all the time (not in the conventional sense at least). Foibles and imperfections pour out of him, however this does not mean he lets them overcome him. Joshua believes that ambition will solve most of your problems, and Google will solve the rest.
For the curious, his GPA is somewhere between 3.9 and 4.0 depending on how you calculate it and on the alignment of the stars. While he does not think this is indicative of intelligence, people seem to care about these things. As well, he has lost over 40 pounds over the course of five or so years.
He hopes that you will take the content on this site in perspective. His is a viewpoint of only one man; take from it all that you can and let it enrich you.
